Meet Robin Schamber
Hello Sublette County! I’m asking for your vote on August 18 for Sublette County Commissioner.
I am a Wyoming native, born and raised on a small farm in Fremont County. I am a proud University of Wyoming graduate with a BS in Micro/Molecular Biology and an MS in Pathobiology/Immunology.
After graduation, I worked at the University of Wyoming as a research scientist in Molecular Biology, then as a research and diagnostic specialist for the Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory at UW.
I moved to Sublette County with my husband Greg (another UW grad) and was fortunate to raise our two children in this beautiful county. We are so proud to have raised the next generation of UW graduates in our children, Brookely and Garrett. (Go Pokes!)
After relocating to Sublette County, I continued my work with the University of Wyoming College of Agriculture as the UW Sublette County Extension 4-H Educator. That role was especially meaningful to me, having grown up in 4-H in a similar rural community. During that time, I worked alongside more than 400 local youth, their families and over 100 dedicated volunteers who became like a second family.
To help meet local childcare needs, I partnered with community leaders to develop afterschool programs in Pinedale and Big Piney, and to support programming in Bondurant. These efforts were the result of strong collaboration among the county government, the University of Wyoming, local municipalities, industry and statewide partners. Through this work, I developed a deep appreciation for the people, businesses and culture of Sublette County. While Pinedale is where I live, Sublette County is truly home.
I have also been proud to serve this community through elected and appointed roles. I served two terms on the Sublette County School District 1 Board of Trustees, with an additional year as a write-in candidate, and served on the Sublette BOCES board. I spent ten years with the Wyoming Afterschool Alliance, including time as board chair, and was appointed by Governor Mead to the Wyoming State Board of Education from 2016 through 2023. I currently volunteer with the LOBA Memorial Spay and Neuter Foundation and the State 4-H Foundation.
My decision to run for Sublette County Commissioner is rooted in a desire to serve. I bring no special interests, only a commitment to advocate for our citizens, our heritage and our core industries. I have great respect for the work our current commissioners have done to build strong relationships with state and federal partners. As those relationships transition, it is critical to maintain that collaboration, especially given the importance of public lands to agriculture, industry and recreation.
As a Wyoming native with deep ties to agriculture and oil and gas, and a strong appreciation for our public lands, I want to help ensure these partnerships continue to benefit our county. We must continue working to diversify our economy so young people can build their futures here. My experience with UW Extension gave me valuable insight into county policy and budgeting. As a fiscal conservative, I am committed to being a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars while planning for Sublette County’s future and preserving what makes it unique.
I look forward to hearing your concerns and our suggestions about our county.
